Jasper Winn: Water Ways

Writer and slow adventurer Jasper Winn has travelled the world by foot, bicycle, kayak and horse. He lived for a year with a nomadic Berber tribe in North Africa, worked with cowboys in South America and Australia and sea kayaked a thousand miles around Ireland’s coast for his book Paddle. He was writer in residence for the Canal and River Trust for three years and now lives on a small boat in the southwest of England.

His book Water Ways recounts his journey along Britain’s waterways and delves into their history. The author is the perfect guide to what these ‘wet roads and water streets’ signified in the past, and their importance today. In Britain, most of us live within five miles of a canal and Jasper Winn’s book helps us see canals in a new light.
