Malika Booker and Andrew McMillan (poetry event)

Poet and multidisciplinary artist Malika Booker is the founder of the writers’ collective Malika’s Kitchen. Her first poetry collection, Pepper Seed, was shortlisted for the Seamus Heaney Centre Prize. She received a Cholmondeley Award for her outstanding contribution to poetry in 2019, and is the recipient of a Slate Award to research and develop her new play.

Andrew McMillan’s debut collection, physical, was the first poetry collection to win the Guardian First Book Award in 2015. The collection also won a Somerset Maugham Award, an Eric Gregory Award, a Northern Writers’ Award, and the Fenton Aldeburgh First Collection Prize. His second collection, playtime, won the Polari Prize 2019. His new collection, pandemonium, explores the inner world of mental health through an engagement with the natural world.
